Bend The Knee

Game of Thrones started as The Walking Dead did, so I didn't bother with this medieval, ever changing feudal epic. However , late in the game as season 7 got underway, I have started to watch this strange story of nine communities who are essentially fighting for power on a big island.
I have no real idea of who is what and what is going on, but I have worked out that nice guy with a Sheffield accent is fighting a short haired bimbo Queen as  a  Hitchcock blonde lip quivering , dragon loving Queen puts in her twopenneth worth as a French midget, and a cast of forty well know British thesps flounce around in dark colours.
Everyone is playing power games, there are tits aplenty and the production values are pretty good.
It will do until the superior Walking Dead returns
Liam Cunningham , a guilty crush

  1. Start from the start, not bloody season 7! It is excellent, and well worth watching. Just don't get attached to anyone...

    2. no dear its got bog all to do with the wonderfully cheesy sean connery film, the tv series is based on a series of books from a good few years ago , equally cheesy but you get lots of swords and mayhem ,a love story , time travel and men in kilts

  8. I have never watched it. Maybe will get the series this winter when (if) I get bored. Best you start at the beginning ...

  9. Yet another show I have not watched. Apparently baseball football hockey and anything else involving one or more sweaty men and a moving object is the prime reason for having a TV in the house.

    3. My dear dear John, never raise to the bait. Which is what I am just about to do as I see that whoever Anonymous is has taken to my very own little signature flourish, namely signing off with the initial of her/his name. Bastard. How much more stylish if Petra, if indeed it is - who knows, would leave a home grown calling card.

P, John is not in his "early" fifties. He is in his mid fifties. He has probably wiped more bottoms and cleared up more sick than any pension he may receive will make up for. Think about taking the piss should you ever find yourself at the receiving end of a nurse's mercy. You'll think again.

  12. Oh, and for any GOT hardcore fans: If you would like to hear and see John Snow sing "Wild Things" just go to YouTube. It's there. Also on YouTube is a cool clip where the cast of 'Hamilton' have used their music to do a song about GOT. If you need someone to be all nerdy about GOT - I'm your gal! WINTER IS HERE!!!!!!!!

Love Game Of Thrones, but as others have said, you must start from the beginning for it to make sense!

  18. Mr GBT is reading the second book at the moment and I've just got him the 1st series on DVD, but we haven't seen it yet. It was ages before I realised what GOT was that everyone was talking about.

  21. I never made it through the first book, well before it hit tv...too much of a mental investment for entertainment purposes! Now I hardly watch tv at all, so I can add this to many other popular shows I haven't seen a minute of--and yes, that includes your beloved Walking Dead. Now, if there were a Downton Abbey revival, I might be convinced to crawl out from under my rock and tune in!

  22. French? Peter Dinklage is American, the star of a rather wonderful film called The Station Agent. He's also in Elf - and he's certainly not a Frenchman.

I enjoyed Peter in The Station Agent, hoped to see him again in another watch-worthy film or three, and he's all over the place these days. His acting makes you forget he's short. :)

  24. Borrowed Seasons 1- 6 from the library. I don't have Sky so can't watch new season. Would rather binge-watch it anyway. Start at the beginning.
